Occam's Razor and Wikimedia Commons[edit]

Dear Gbawden, today I saw that you have closed nomination of a set of files, depicting pre-revolutionary Iran, as keep (example: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and Iranian national football team.jpg). The argument that you referred to for keeping the files was that "we use Occam's Razor". I could not find any reference to that among policies and guidelines of Commons and my question regarding this from the user who presented this reasoning remains unanswered. Could you please enlighten me about the basis for utilizing Occam's Razor on Commons? Frankly, I think Commons:Project scope/Evidence is contradicting such default assumptions. Hi, getting back to this deletion request: We unfortunately only have a release for the phot itself, not for the artwork displayed in it. Could you therefore please 're-delete' the versions of the file that have not been 'censored'? Thank you, Gnom (talk) 15:05, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done @Gnom Gbawden (talk) 10:24, 24 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Go check again. Its been reverted and I do not really understand why. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 18:06, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The question is what is stated in the release. I don't have access to it, and there are contradicting statements from @Nat and @Krd about its contents in the deletion discussion. Gnom (talk) 20:02, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I see that the file was updated with "The permission applies to the photo and also the depicted painting." - I have no reason to doubt that. You can post at VTRS for clarity Gbawden (talk) 06:58, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Gbawden: In the deletion discussion, @Nat stated, "Nope. Permission is only for the photo and not the painting." Can we clear this up? Thanks, Gnom (talk) 08:32, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. Thanks for closing Commons:Deletion requests/File:KORMEM1.jpg. Commons:Deletion requests/File:KORWARM2.jpg has the same issue.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:51, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

apologies[edit]

I've been meaning to apologize for a very long time. Sorry that I reverted some of your LC TIF images with categorized JPGs, having a naive conception of the scale of this category before. Now I am very grateful for your work on this. Thank you! Krok6kola (talk) 14:27, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Krok6kola Lol no worries. There is method in my madness ː) Gbawden (talk) 06:30, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
